Libya and China have agreed to deepen financial cooperation, including plans for Libyan banks to join China’s Cross-Border Interbank Payment System (CIPS). The deal was reached during talks in Beijing between the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL), Naji Issa, and his Chinese counterpart, Pan Gongsheng. In a statement on Thursday, the CBL said the agreement also includes diversifying Libya’s investments through entry into China’s bond market.
